2024 ZGC Forum·2th World Digital Sports Industry Forum Successfully Concludes in Beijing

On April 27, the 2024 ZGC Forum·2th World Digital Sports Industry Forum was held at the Zhongguancun International Innovation Center, hosted by the Asian Electronic Sports Federation  (AESF), co-organized by the Ligue de Football Professionnel (LFP) , China Mobile Migu, and Digital Esports Asia (DEA).  

 

This year's forum marked the 60th anniversary of diplomatic relations between China and France, focusing on the theme: "Global Sports and Cultural Exchange Empowered by Technological Innovation". The event brought together over 200 representatives from international sports organizations, regulatory bodies, technology enterprises, the sports industry, academic institutions, and media outlets to discuss the integration of technology and sports innovation.  

 

Kenneth Fok, President of the AESF, extended his congratulations via video on the success of the forum and applauded the significant achievements made by the AESF in advancing the digital sports industry over the past year.  

 

Kenneth Fok stated:  

"The rapid development of technology propels the progress of sports. We must embrace opportunities and challenges ahead with innovation, collaboration, and inclusivity. By uniting exceptional talents from the global technology and sports fields, we can collectively shape a brighter future for the global sports industry."*  

 

Cai Yanjiang , Director of Sports for the Asia-Pacific Broadcasting Union, shared an overview of digitalization in sports broadcasting across the region. He highlighted that China's advancements in 5G, AI, and augmented reality have positioned the country as a global leader in digital broadcasting technology.  

 

A special dialogue session featured Lang Ping , Vice Chairman of the Chinese Volleyball Association and former head coach of the Chinese women's national volleyball team, in conversation with Tian Zongqi , a former CCTV host and sports commentator. They explored the topic: "How Sports Technology Empowers Performance and Digitally Preserves the Spirit of Women's Volleyball."   

 

Lang Ping expressed:  

"We hope for greater integration of sports and technology to enhance athletes' capabilities and improve performance. The future of sports empowered by technology is full of potential."*  

 

Don Chen , CEO of Digital Esports Asia, participated in the forum's first roundtable discussion with notable figures including Kim Tae Hyung , COO of the AESF, Stéphan Euthine , honorary board member of the French Esports Federation, and Daniel Cossi , President of the Brazilian Esports Confederation. Topics ranged from digital readiness for the Paris Olympics, the impact of AI on Japanese digital sports, and advancements in Chinese and Brazilian digital sports.  

 

Don Chen emphasized:  

"To thrive in the digital age, the development of esports and digital sports must harness the power of technology to maintain competitiveness and foster innovation. The evolution of digital concepts and technologies will reshape both business and content models, bringing renewed vitality to the entire industry."

 

Other notable discussions included:  

- "How Digital Transformation Supports Top-Tier Sports IPs: The Ligue 1 Approach" by Sun Ai Qi , General Manager of the LFP China Office.  

- "Commercializing Digital Sports Through Technology and Data" by Cheng Peng , General Manager of SenseTime's Smart Sports Division.  

 

The forum united experts from various sectors of the sports industry, focusing on technological applications, sports IPs, event operations, and digital sports marketing. Its successful conclusion underscored the ongoing innovation and robust growth of the digital sports industry.
